Hey! These are both critical issues – please pay close attention. First, never, ever unscrew the rods to level them after installation. This is one of the most common and dangerous mistakes. When you unscrew a pile, you destroy the soil compaction and mechanical interlocking that occurred during installation. Such a foundation quickly deforms due to uneven subsidence of the piles – the pile will settle differently than properly installed ones, causing foundation failure. If a pile goes in wrong, you need to remove it completely, prepare a new installation point, and start fresh. Second, cutting is equally critical – pile tails must be cut strictly horizontally to ensure the correct level of the pile caps. Never cut piles at an angle, even if it seems easier or faster. If cutting isn’t perfectly horizontal, the load on the foundation will be uneven, causing some piles to be overloaded while others are underutilized. This uneven loading leads to differential settlement and structural problems. Use proper leveling equipment to mark cutting lines, and use appropriate cutting tools to ensure clean, horizontal cuts. These procedures might seem minor but they’re fundamental to foundation integrity. Details at https://construction-tip-s.blogspot.com/2025/08/how-are-piles-installed.html Take these procedures seriously – sloppy work here compromises your entire foundation.

Hey! If we screw a pile in slightly wrong, can we just unscrew it a bit to level it? Also, does it matter how we cut the tops?
